Definitely! This plan will help you build strong, high-functioning, resilient shoulders from the ground up. Starting with optimizing movement mechanics, and then building stability around the shoulder complex, you will find a new strength and ownership of your pressing and overhead movements.
Much of the first two phases can be done easily at home with some light dumbbells and bands, but as you get into the last phase you will need access to some heavier weights. Phase 3 is designed to get you back to lifting overhead in the gym pain-free, so your rehab needs to mimic your training goals.
When your joints have full range of motion, it triggers a cascade of benefits that begins with short-term exercise and ends with long-term health. Your muscles are better able to engage during workouts, which therefore become more productive. This means increased strength and reduced pain and risk of injury thanks to your ability to use proper technique. Hey, stretching is good, especially dynamic techniques that activate your muscle’s stretch reflex (versus basic static “hold” movements). Our program incorporates these, but then takes them to the next level by focusing on full range of motion. This is about the movement of your joints, not just the flexibility of your muscles. Your body’s structure is an interrelated system of bones, muscles, ligaments, and tendons. They all need to perform at top levels!
